LabVIEW for Beginners
Welcome Friends. :). This Article here presented will help you to master the Ultimate Software for programming, Labview. Labview basically is a VPL. Scared of new Words???? Never mind. Lets take a deeper dive into such simple terms to make you comfortable with the article :).
Tips
- VPL stands for Visual Programming Language.
- This is nothing but a drag and drop type language. You can drag and drop modules, instead of code, and just wire them to complete your program.
- Very complicated programs can be easily implemented with VPL.
- Finally, Programming becomes FUN!!!
Good. Now you should be having a basic understanding of what VPL is. Still you cannot grasp anything? No problem. As we get to discuss about the most powerful VPL, Labview, you will come to know more than VPL :D.
Lets take an step by step approach, and climb each one of them with patience :)
Install LAbview
As any software or language tutorial would begin, we will start the same way to stick to standards. :P. Of course we are not going through the whole setup wizard.!! I strongly believe that people who are going to learn Labview here are capable of doing it themselves. And as to how to get the software, I would ask you to follow the procedure you use to download movies :P. A trial version would do. As I said at start, at the end of 30 days, you would be addicted to Labview and create your own versions of algorithms and code.
Explore Labview
Assuming that you have successfully installed the trial version of Labview ( trust me guys, installation is damn easy. The wizard is pretty self explanatory.), preferably the Labview 2010 SP1, which should be easily available, Lets proceed by opening the tool :). As soon as you open the trial version, A prompt dialogue box will ask you to purchase product or proceed with the 30 day free trial. Continue with the trial as of now :). This dialogue box will appear every time you open Labview trial version.
The Front Panel
Once you Cross the above step, you should be seeing a window as shown below :).
Click on the Blank VI, indicated by red circle. This should open 2 windows as shown below. :).
Lets discuss about the front panel now. The following video will give you an small introduction about the front panel. :).
That video above should just get you started with Labview :). Now lets do a simple program shall we?? :). Watch out for my next tutorial!! :). Chiao! :D.
